ABOUT STOP THE PRESSES

What do you get when you mix traditional ska, reggae with pop hooks? How about new wave, 2-Tone, and a little punk rock to make things weird? Sounds a lot like Stop The Presses from New York.

Originally formed by Ali Culotta and Danny Portilla, Stop The Presses has come a long way since their early days in Miami. Now based in Brooklyn, the band plans to take over the ska world with their unique sound and energetic live show. In 2019, they released the LP “Money in the Bank”, produced by Agent Jay and featuring Dave Hillyard of The Slackers. At just over 30 minutes, Money in the Bank packs a punch. It has a retro sensibility with a modern edge that any ska fan will love.

2020 brought multiple live streams, collaborative videos, and their “Dub in the Bank”  7 inch release. In 2021, Stop the Presses hit the ground running with an east coast tour, stand out performance at Supernova Ska Festival and the contribution of their single “Make the Best of It”  for the Ska-Cares International Compilation benefiting the Alpha Boys school in Jamaica.

This year, Stop the Presses is thrilled to announce “Got It” their 4th studio release this time with legendary Chicago record label Jump Up Records. “A live natural feel, but a big sound with detailed arrangements.”-Agent Jay

This is an open-air, limited-capacity event.
