COVID PROTOCOL & FAQs
Join us for a five-session memoir-writing workshop sequence with writer Susan Geib.
This workshop (2 hours per session) will culminate in several polished personal narratives for each participant. The focus will be on short forms that are complete in themselves, but can also serve as springboards for longer pieces.
Enrollment is limited to no more than 8.
Session dates are Sept 20 (6-8pm), Sept 27 (6-8pm), Oct 4 (6-8pm), Oct 11 (6-8pm), Oct 23 (10am - Noon).
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
This workshop is designed for those who:
- Are looking for a structured approach to memoir to improve their writing and meet their personal goals.
- Intend to participate in every meeting. (While this may not be possible in every case, the workshop is structured to advance to progressively longer--but still short--forms.)
- Are prepared to write, share their work, and give and receive constructive feedback in each session, according to established workshop norms.
- Want to learn about contemporary trends in memoir and to read and discuss short memoir/personal narrative selections by established writers.
The first session will address the art of memoir today and conclude with a writing exercise. The following sessions will be devoted to discussion of the participants’ work, together with analysis of work by others and writing exercises.
